Job summary

CommBank is seeking a Staff Platform Engineer (AWS) to lead the BB Companion platform architecture and automation from Sydney or Melbourne. You will drive secure, scalable platforms across squads, aligning product, data and AI capabilities with governance and responsible AI controls.

You will mentor engineers, shape roadmaps and ensure reliable delivery through CI/CD, IaC and secure-by-design practices, while delivering measurable improvements in developer experience and platform adoption.

Qualifications

Staff-level leadership across architecture and mentoring.
Strong AWS platform engineering with Kubernetes/EKS.
Hands-on with IaC, scripting, CI/CD, DevSecOps.
System design across APIs, integrations, observability.
Experience embedding security and risk controls.
Clear communication across multiple teams.

Responsibilities

Own BB Companion platform architecture, infra and automation across squads.
Lead technical direction, design reviews and integration across product, data and AI platform capabilities.
Enable secure AWS delivery through CI/CD, GitOps, Infrastructure as Code, Kubernetes.
Improve reliability, observability and resilience through SLOs, capacity planning and incident support.
Improve developer experience through self-service, golden paths and measurable platform adoption.
Embed security, privacy, data governance, responsible AI and agent safety controls.
Set standards and apply Staff-level judgement to governance, incidents and complex trade-offs.
Mentor engineers and grow platform capability across squads.
