Job summary

Gridsight in Melbourne, Australia seeks a Staff Engineer to lead the Infrastructure Platform as the first IC on the team. You’ll own problems end-to-end, shape the tech direction with leadership, and build a self-serve foundation across product teams.

You'll design secure, multi-region cloud infrastructure, drive observability, IaC, and incident management, while mentoring others and delivering tooling that accelerates product engineering.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in software engineering, operating at Staff level or equivalent.
• Deep production cloud infrastructure experience (compute, networking, storage, IAM, cost management).
• Proven track record building observability platforms used by multiple teams.
• Hands-on SRE practice: SLOs, error budgets, incident response.
• Experience running platform as a product in a product engineering organisation.
• Fluency with AI-assisted development tools.

Responsibilities

• Define platform roadmap and own end-to-end platform problems across teams and functions.
• Develop and maintain observability, deployment pipelines and infrastructure-as-code.
• Design secure, multi-region infrastructure for multi-tenant delivery across regions.
• Define SLOs and incident response processes; participate in on-call rotation.
• Improve developer experience by building tools and abstractions engineers will adopt.
• Mentor engineers and shape platform governance and product-facing interfaces.
