Job summary

CommBank is seeking a Staff Software Engineer – Mobile to shape Android architecture and drive delivery of secure, scalable payment experiences within the CommBank app. You will lead technical direction, mentor engineers and collaborate across Product, Design, Security and backend teams.

You will own full-cycle delivery from ideation to production, modernising components, promoting best practices in testing, CI/CD, performance and observability, and aligning with cross‑functional partners to

Qualifications

Deep Android development experience with Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
Strong knowledge of mobile architecture (MVVM/MVI/Clean Architecture).
Experience with dependency injection and SOLID design.
Proven delivery of secure, reliable mobile apps with automated tests and CI/CD.
Experience integrating REST/GraphQL APIs and AWS cloud services.
Ability to lead technical decisions and mentor engineers.

Responsibilities

Set and champion strategic technical direction for Android within the Money Movement team.
Own end-to-end delivery from ideation to release and production support.
Modernise payment experiences and build reusable, scalable components.
Collaborate with Product, Design, Security, backend and other teams.
Promote engineering practices: testing, CI/CD, performance, observability.
Provide hands-on leadership and uplift Android capabilities across teams.
Influence end-to-end solutions spanning app, APIs and cloud services.
