Job summary

Portland District Health is seeking a suitably qualified Speech Pathologist to join the Allied Health team on a part-time basis. This role focuses on delivering evidence-based clinical care across various settings including acute, subacute, and community-based.

With a minimum of 7 years of experience and a Bachelor of Speech Pathology, the successful candidate will contribute to a multidisciplinary team, ensuring high-quality, consumer-focused care while supporting staff development.

Job description

Ongoing Part Time – 48 hours per fortnight

Available from 18thOctober 2026

An exciting and rewarding opportunity is available for a suitably qualified Speech Pathologist to join the Allied Health team at Portland District Health.

You are responsible for delivering safe and effective clinical care that requires a higher level of clinical decision making that is relevant to speech pathology practice. You practice and provide evidence-based speech pathology services cross the acute, subacute, outpatient, aged care and community-based settings withing Portland District Health. You support the development of clinical and leadership skills I staff placed under your responsibility such as allied health assistants and students.

About you:

• Bachelor of Speed Pathology with membership or eligibility for membership with Speech Pathology Australia
• At least 7 years’ experience
• Post Graduate clinical qualification relevant to advertised position – desirable
• Experience in Hospital and Community based setting
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe consumer focused care, providing a high level of specialist knowledge
• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously with highly developed skills in organisation, time management, planning and priority setting
• Demonstrated commitment to continuous service improvement or research activities

Portland District Health (PDH) provides an integrated health service for the community. The hospital was established in 1856 on the current site and now provides a comprehensive range of services that include:

• Hospital based Medical and Surgical services, Medical Imaging (Radiology), Pharmacy and Pathology
• A 24/7 Urgent Care Centre for emergency treatment
• Residential aged care for 30 residents at Harbourside Lodge
• An extensive range of primary and community services for the local community

PDH delivers services from a single campus, employs around 470 staff with an FTE of approximately 290, and has an active volunteer workforce. The People and Culture Unit sits within the Corporate Services Directorate, with other Units including Finance, Building Services, Food Services, Environmental Services, Executive Support, Administration and Health Information.
