Ongoing Part Time - up to 76 hours per fortnight

An exciting and rewarding opportunity is available for a suitably qualified Occupational Therapist to join the Allied Health team at Portland District Health.

You are responsible for delivering safe and effective clinical care that requires a higher level of clinical decision making that is relevant to occupational therapy practice. You practice and deliver occupational therapy services across the acute, subacute, outpatient, aged care, and community-based settings within Portland. You support the development of clinical and leadership skills in staff placed under your responsibility and less experienced o ccupational therapists , allied health assistants and students. You contribute to the quality, safety and risk management programs for the clinical unit/department.

About you:

• Occupational Therapist with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency and holds a current registration.
• Experience relevant to Occupational Therapy in an Inpatient / Outpatient setting and a demonstrated high level of contemporary practice and principles and evidenced based models for Inpatient / Outpatient Occupational Therapy Service delivery.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe consumer focused care, providing a high level of specialist knowledge.
• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously with highly developed skills in organisation, time management, planning and priority setting.
• Current registration with SWEP (Statewide Equipment Program) prescriber and or geat2go
• Understanding of the needs, issues and sensitivities of people from diverse backgrounds.

Portland District Health (PDH) provides an integrated health service for the community. The hospital was established in 1856 on the current site and now provides a comprehensive range of services that include:

• Hospital based Medical and Surgical services, Medical Imaging (Radiology), Pharmacy and Pathology
• A 24/7 Urgent Care Centre for emergency treatment
• Residential aged care for 30 residents at Harbourside Lodge
• An extensive range of primary and community services for the local community

PDH delivers services from a single campus, employs around 470 staff with an FTE of approximately 290, and has an active volunteer workforce. The People and Culture Unit sits within the Corporate Services Directorate, with other Units including Finance, Building Services, Food Services, Environmental Services, Executive Support, Administration and Health Information.
