Job summary

Balambalam Primary School in Melbourne's southern suburbs seeks a Speech Pathologist to join the Inclusion and Wellbeing Team. You will support students to communicate, participate and engage in learning, delivering evidence-based services and practical recommendations for classroom practice.

You will assess, interpret and report on speech and language needs, work with teachers and families, and contribute to MTSS and whole-school inclusion efforts.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to provide high-quality speech pathology services within an educational setting.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in evidence-based speech pathology practice.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Demonstrated ability to build the capability of teachers and education support staff through professional learning and coaching.
• Highly developed communication, interpersonal and networking skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality speech pathology assessment, consultation, intervention and support for students with identified or emerging communication needs.
• Undertake formal and informal assessment of speech, receptive and expressive language, social communication and other relevant areas.
• Analyse assessment information and communicate findings clearly to staff, families and relevant professionals.
• Develop clear, evidence-informed and achievable recommendations that support students within their classroom and broader school environment.
• Plan, implement and evaluate individual and small-group speech pathology interventions.
• Contribute to MTSS planning and strengthen Tier 1 classroom practice with staff.
• Provide consultation, modelling and coaching to teachers and education support staff.
