Job summary

Good Samaritan Catholic College Hinchinbrook is seeking a Specialist Support Classroom Teacher for a part-time 0.6 FTE temporary position until the end of Term 4, 2026. The role requires a tertiary qualification in Education and current NESA accreditation, with at least five years of teaching experience.

Position Highlights

The Specialist Support Classroom Teacher works collaboratively with the class team to actively respond to the learning needs of students with complex needs within a Specialist Support Class setting. This collaborative work includes co-teaching and planning aimed at developing the capacity of the specialist support class to support students with complex needs.

This is a part-time temporary position until the end of Term 4 2026.

About You

As a Specialist Support Classroom Teacher, you will work to meet the diverse needs of students to reach their full potential. Success in this position will be supported by the following skills, qualities, and abilities:

  • a tertiary qualification in Education and current NESA accreditation
  • a minimum of five years of teaching experience in a school
  • quality classroom practice and highly developed skills which enhance student engagement through differentiated and individualised learning programs
  • knowledge of the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD) cyclic processes, including planning, implementation, validation and review of student's Personalised Plans
  • co-teach and co-plan with colleagues to ensure that curriculum meets the needs of students with complex needs
  • design and deliver differentiated instruction to meet varied learning needs
  • collaborate with support staff to implement adjustments and interventions
  • create and implement engaging, rigorous planned learning experiences catering to the diverse needs of students
  • utilise formative and summative assessments to drive student progress
  • employ a data-informed approach to setting challenging learning objectives and providing constructive feedback
  • support the inclusive Catholic religious and cultural environment for students
  • demonstrate excellent classroom management skills focused on student well-being
  • integrate technology to enhance contemporary learning experiences
  • Religious Education qualifications or the willingness to achieve them as per Accreditation Policy to Work, Teach, and Lead.
  • postgraduate degree or certificate in Inclusive Education or Neurodivergent studies
  • previous classroom experience working with students with diverse learning needs.
