Job summary

The Star Sydney is seeking a passionate Sous Chef to join our Sovereign Team, leading both Asian and Western kitchen stations. You will mentor Commis and Demi Chefs and drive high standards of guest service in a fast-paced environment.

With formal culinary training and a background in busy kitchens, you will ensure HACCP compliance, manage stock, and contribute to world-class dining experiences at The Star Sydney. This role requires full-time commitment and weekend availability.

Qualifications

• Solid Chef de Partie/Jr Sous Chef experience and relevant tertiary qualifications, such as Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery.
• Experience working in a busy, fast-paced kitchen environment.
• Strong understanding of produce, culinary techniques, and kitchen equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Restaurant Executive Chef to manage guest service, team performance and service enhancements.
• Oversee Asian and Western stations by supervising and leading by example.
• Train and coach Commis and Demi Chefs, guiding kitchen operations.
• Ensure outlets comply with HACCP standards via daily monitoring and walk-throughs.
• Review stocktake daily and ensure proper orders and stock receipts.
