Job summary

Wests Group Macarthur is seeking a passionate Sous Chef to lead our kitchen operations across Sydney's South-West venues. You’ll mentor a brigade of 50+ chefs, shape menus, and deliver exceptional dining experiences for our members and guests.

As Sous Chef, you’ll work beside Head Chefs, drive quality and presentation, supervise stock and cost control, and ensure food safety and compliance. You’ll coach team, design specials, and collaborate with front‑of‑house for events.

Qualifications

• Be a trade qualified Chef with solid commercial kitchen experience.
• Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop teams.
• Experience in high-volume hospitality environments.
• Strong understanding of food safety, WHS and kitchen compliance.
• Excellent communication, organisation and time management.
• Ability to perform under pressure while maintaining a positive team culture.
• Genuine passion for food, people and delivering great experiences.
• Current driver’s licence and roster flexibility including weekends/holidays.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily kitchen operations and mentor the team.

About The Role

As Sous Chef, you’ll be the right hand to our Head Chefs, playing a critical role in leading daily kitchen operations, mentoring your team, and ensuring every dish meets our high standards. This is a hands‑on leadership role where you will:

• Drive quality, consistency, and presentation across all services.
• Be actively involved in preparing and cooking high quality dishes, leading from the front during service.
• Support and step into kitchen leadership during Head Chef absences.
• Creatively contribute to menu design, specials and seasonal innovation.
• Lead, coach and develop a skilled and engaged kitchen team.
• Monitor food production to ensure exceptional standards at all times.
• Manage stock, ordering, cost control and support stocktakes.
• Maintain the highest standards of food safety, hygiene and compliance.
• Work collaboratively with front‑of‑house, functions and events teams.

What You’ll Bring
