Job summary

Lutheran Homes Group in Adelaide, SA is seeking a Sous Chef to support the Head Chef in delivering high-quality meals for residents. You will guide catering staff, ensure dietary requirements are met, and contribute to menu planning and kitchen operations.

Qualifications

• Minimum Certificate III in Commercial Cookery.
• Qualified Chef with at least 2 years' relevant industry experience.

• Experience in aged care catering is highly regarded.
• Strong understanding of food safety, quality standards and customer-focused service.

About the Role

As a Sous Chef, you will support the Head Chef in delivering high-quality, nutritious meals that enhance the wellbeing of our residents. You will provide guidance to catering staff, ensuring meals meet individual dietary requirements, care plans, and personal preferences. Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, nutritious meals and provide professional cooking services that meet resident needs and preferences.
• Support, guide and mentor catering staff to ensure excellent food service and kitchen operations.
• Assist in the development of appealing menus and recipes, working closely with residents and the catering team.
• Identify and implement continuous improvements to enhance the dining experience and service quality.
• Act as Head Chef in their absence, supporting kitchen leadership, rostering, staff development and day-to-day operations.

What You Will Need

• Minimum Certificate III in Commercial Cookery.
• Qualified Chef with at least 2 years' relevant industry experience.
• Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to support, mentor and guide kitchen staff.
• Experience in aged care catering is highly regarded.
• Strong understanding of food safety, quality standards and customer-focused service.

Candidates will be required to undergo a pre-employment medical assessment and must hold a current NDIS Worker Clearance. In line with current health guidelines for the aged care sector, candidates are strongly encouraged to be up to date with all recommended vaccinations.
