Job summary

Lutheran Homes Group in Hope Valley, SA, seeks a Sous Chef to support the Head Chef in delivering high-quality, nutritious meals for residents. You will guide catering staff and ensure meals meet dietary plans and personal preferences.

This permanent, full-time role offers leadership opportunities, a focus on nutrition and quality, and the chance to contribute to our not-for-profit aged care mission with ongoing training and development.

Qualifications

• Minimum Certificate III in Commercial Cookery.
• Qualified Chef with at least 2 years' relevant industry experience.
• Experience in aged care catering is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, nutritious meals that meet resident needs and preferences.
• Support, guide and mentor catering staff to ensure excellent food service and kitchen operations.
• Assist in developing appealing menus and recipes with residents and the catering team.
• Identify and implement continuous improvements to enhance dining experience and service quality.
• Act as Head Chef in their absence, supporting kitchen leadership and rostering.

About The Role

As a Sous Chef, you will support the Head Chef in delivering high-quality, nutritious meals that enhance the wellbeing of our residents. You will provide guidance to catering staff, ensuring meals meet individual dietary requirements, care plans, and personal preferences. This role is ideal for a passionate culinary professional who enjoys making a positive difference in the lives of older people through exceptional food and service.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, nutritious meals and provide professional cooking services that meet resident needs and preferences.
• Support, guide and mentor catering staff to ensure excellent food service and kitchen operations.
• Assist in the development of appealing menus and recipes, working closely with residents and the catering team.
• Identify and implement continuous improvements to enhance the dining experience and service quality.
• Act as Head Chef in their absence, supporting kitchen leadership, rostering, staff development and day-to-day operations.

What You Will Need

• Minimum Certificate III in Commercial Cookery.
• Qualified Chef with at least 2 years' relevant industry experience.
• Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to support, mentor and guide kitchen staff.
• Experience in aged care catering is highly regarded.
• Strong understanding of food safety, quality standards and customer-focused service.

Candidates will be required to undergo a pre-employment medical assessment and must hold a current NDIS Worker Clearance. In line with current health guidelines for the aged care sector, candidates are strongly encouraged to be up to date with all recommended vaccinations.
