Job summary

Talenza is seeking an experienced Solution Designer to join our enterprise Data Platforms team in Sydney on a 6-month contract. You will design scalable, secure data solutions to modernise legacy environments and migrate workloads to cloud platforms.

Working with Architecture, Engineering, and Delivery teams, you will lead design activities, ensure governance, and guide development teams through the delivery lifecycle while aligning with security and operational standards.

Qualifications

• Proven experience designing solutions in large enterprise data platforms.
• Hands-on with SAS-based platforms, data migration, and cloud modernization.
• Strong data governance, security, and compliance awareness.

Responsibilities

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Solution Designer to join a major enterprise Data Platforms team, supporting a large-scale transformation program focused on modernising legacy data environments and migrating critical workloads to cloud-based platforms.

Working closely with Architecture, Engineering, and Delivery teams, you will play a key role in designing scalable, secure, and future-ready data solutions that support business-critical initiatives. This position will suit a technically strong Solution Designer who enjoys working across complex data ecosystems and driving modernisation outcomes within large enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead solution design activities across enterprise data platforms and transformation initiatives.
• Analyse current-state data environments and define scalable target-state solutions.
• Partner with Architecture, Engineering, and Delivery teams to translate business and technical requirements into solution designs.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance throughout the delivery lifecycle.
• Support migration and modernisation initiatives involving cloud-based data platforms.
• Participate in architecture reviews and provide recommendations on solution design, scalability, performance, and risk.
• Ensure solutions align with governance, compliance, security, and operational standards.
• Support development teams with technical guidance, issue resolution, and implementation oversight.
• Contribute to documentation, design artefacts, standards, and best practices.

Skills & Experience

Technical Expertise

• Proven Solution Design experience within large enterprise environments.
• Strong experience working across data platforms, data warehousing, and analytics ecosystems.
• Hands-on experience with SAS-based platforms and associated development frameworks.
• Understanding of Snowflake, Databricks, and modern cloud data architectures.
• Experience with data migration, platform modernisation, or transformation programs.
• Strong understanding of data management, code deployment, and solution governance practices.

Architecture & Delivery

• Ability to operate effectively across Architecture, Delivery, and Engineering teams.
• Experience designing scalable, resilient, and high-performing enterprise solutions.
• Strong understanding of:
  • DevOps practices
  • CI/CD pipelines
  • Regression management
  • Code versioning and deployment processes
  • Documentation and governance standards

Stakeholder Engagement

• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to engage with technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience facilitating workshops and collaborating with senior stakeholders across business and technology functions.

Highly Desirable

• Banking or financial services experience.
• Exposure to regulatory reporting or risk-related data environments.
• Understanding of customer, lending, or financial product data domains.
• Experience supporting enterprise cloud migration programs.
• Exposure to AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot and emerging engineering technologies.
