Brumby, based in Sydney, is building autonomous drones for cattle management. We’re hiring a Software Engineer to own the platform, connect fleet to the cloud, and ensure logs, detections, and video feed reach AWS reliably.

The role covers building the backend, cloud infra-as-code, customer apps, and internal tools for planning missions and monitoring aircraft. Expect field work from cattle stations and strong ownership from day one.

Qualifications

• Experience with production AWS, infrastructure as code (Terraform or CDK), across VPC/EC2/ECS, RDS, S3 and IAM.
• Strong backend engineering in Python with FastAPI, Postgres, API design and migrations.
• Comfortable across the stack with TypeScript and React, including Electron desktop apps.
• Experience building reliable CI/CD pipelines with pinned images, staged environments and rollback.

Responsibilities

• Build and manage AWS infrastructure entirely as code.
• Develop FleetOps: backend, internal dashboard, and customer-facing apps.
• Create edge-sync between aircraft, docks and cloud for intermittent connections.
• Own OTA updates and fleet management with safe staged rollouts.
• Build monitoring and alerting to catch issues before customers do.
