Job summary

Carbonix is seeking an operations-focused professional to bridge our production floor with field operations for BVLOS drone programs. You will oversee day-to-day production tasks, ensure engineering changes reach aircraft, and maintain readiness of drones and ground kits.

• Must have working rights in Australia.
• Desirable: CASA RePL or RPAS operations experience.
• Desirable: maintenance records, configuration control or airworthiness processes.
• Desirable: familiarity with Ardupilot or similar autopilot systems.

Responsibilities

• Track every aircraft through the build in Jira, find blockers, and drive them to closure.
• Roll out released engineering changes to the right aircraft, and keep the change register accurate.
• Own the maintenance plan for aircraft, trailers and ground equipment; raise work before due.
• Own field readiness for every deployment — serviceability, configuration, kit, spares, paperwork.
• Coordinate with the flight operations team on what is going where and when.
• Inspect returned assets, arrange repairs, and re-stock for next job.
• Report fleet status weekly and be the single point of truth on availability.

Carbonix is a leading Australian manufacturer and operator of long-range RPAS platforms for enterprise and government customers. We specialize in BVLOS operations, delivering advanced aerial survey and inspection services.

About the role

We are looking for someone to own the link between our production floor and our field operations. This is the role for a pilot, mission planner or engineer who has decided they want to run operations. You will take on the day to day production tasks, make sure engineering changes get onto the aircraft, and be the person who knows the status and readiness of every drone, trailer and ground kit we own. If it goes to site, it goes through you. You will work across the production, engineering and flight operations teams, and see the whole picture from build to deployment. It is a direct path into an operations management role.

Key responsibilities

Run the day to day production task list — assign the work, sequence it, and hold the dates.

Track every aircraft through the build in Jira, find the blockers, and drive them to closure.

Roll out released engineering changes to the right aircraft, and keep the change register accurate so the record matches the actual aircraft.

Own the maintenance plan for aircraft, trailers and ground equipment. Raise the work before it is due, and keep records audit ready.

Own field readiness for every deployment — serviceability, configuration, kit completeness, spares and paperwork.

Coordinate with the flight operations team on what is going where and when, and plan backwards from the go date.

Inspect returned assets, arrange repairs, and get them back on the shelf ready for the next job.

Report fleet status weekly and be the single point of truth on what is available.

About you

Background as a remote drone/UAV pilot, mission planner, or a mechanical / manufacturing / aeronautical engineer would be a plus.

Experience running jobs to a deadline — coordinating people, suppliers or trades.

Organised. You keep your own tracking current without being chased.

Comfortable working in a ticketing system every day. Jira experience preferred, any equivalent accepted.

This role is very much hands on.

Must hold a valid car driver's licence.

Must hold valid working rights in Australia.

Highly desirable: CASA RePL, or experience in RPAS operations.

Highly desirable: exposure to maintenance records, configuration control or airworthiness processes.

Highly desirable: familiarity with Ardupilot or similar autopilot systems.

A direct pathway into an operations management role as the company scales.
