Job summary

CEA Technologies seeks an experienced SMA Process Engineer to join our electronics manufacturing team in Australia. You will drive continuous improvement, manage the quality process and provide technical support to the SMA line.

The role requires at least 5 years in electronics manufacturing, preferably with SMT experience, and a degree in Electronic Engineering or related field. You will liaise with QA, CAD and engineering during design reviews and ensure compliance with IPC-A-610 standards.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in electronics manufacturing, preferably SMT.
  • Tertiary qualification in Electronic Engineering (preferred).
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Able to interpret and write technical instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain AGSVA clearance – Negative Vetting 1.

Responsibilities

  • Stencil design, creation and updates according to quality data and best industry practice.
  • Create and update reflow oven profiles according to quality data and best industry practice.
  • Analyse Quality data and work with SMA team to implement process improvements.
  • Monitor SMA Work Schedule to prepare stencils and profiles in advance.
  • Provide detailed quality reports monthly.
  • Create maintenance programs for equipment.
  • Liaise with Quality Assurance on technical issues related to surface mount assembly.
  • Review component datasheets for potential issues during PCB assembly.

Job description

This has resulted in the creation of a highly modular and scalable product suite, which have become integral to a wide range of critical Defence capabilities.

The Position

The SMA Process Engineer will work with dedicated production teams to drive continuous improvement, manage overall Quality process and provide technical support to the SMA Line.

Key Responsibilities

Stencil design, creation and updates according to quality data and best industry practice.

Create and update reflow oven profiles according to quality data and best industry practice.

Analyse Quality data closely and work with the SMA team to implement improvements in process to increase quality

Monitor SMA Work Schedule to prepare stencils and profiles in advance

Provide detailed quality reports monthly

Create maintenance programs for equipment.

Work with sub-contractor suppliers to resolve technical issues with regard to CEA product manufacturing.

Assist in implementing systems or software tools for surface mount assembly line.

Liaise with Quality Assurance on technical issues with regard to surface mount assembly.

Liaise with CAD and engineering during design reviews to get best practice design for manufacturing.

Review component datasheets of new components for potential issues during printed circuit assembly.

Prepare and/or review assembly instructions for printed circuit assemblies.

Assess equipment needs within the SMA section and make investment recommendations to the Production Manager.

Assist with quality audit pre-qualification / verification of sub-contractors.

Perform other related Production duties as required within skill set

Our Ideal Candidate

A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the electronics manufacturing industry. Preferably SMT experience

Familiar with stencil design processes and vapour phase oven profiling

A good understanding of electronic component types.

Tertiary qualification at Degree/Diploma/Certificate level in Electronic Engineering (preferred).

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Able to interpret and write technical instructions.

Strong attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.

Self-motivated and the ability to work with autonomy.

Competent in use of Microsoft applications at an intermediate level.

Experience with IPC standards in particular IPC – A – 610.

Experience with Surface Mount Assembly Line and Moisture Handling & Component recognition.

Experience with hand soldering, hand tools and Electrostatic Discharge Control (ESD).

Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing organisational priorities.

Eligible to obtain and maintain an AGSVA clearance – Negative Vetting 1.
