Job summary

Hometown Skips is seeking a reliable, safety-conscious Truck Driver to join the Mackay team. You’ll deliver and collect skip bins, meet customers, and help keep operations running smoothly on a local schedule.

Competitive pay of $36–$40 per hour, 38-hour week with overtime penalties, and a path to full-time employment after a 3-month probation. Queensland HR licence required; on-site work with no interstate travel.

Qualifications

• Current Queensland HR truck licence.
• Experience driving trucks, ideally skip bins or similar.
• Strong work ethic and safety focus.
• Good communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Delivering, collecting and positioning skip bins safely and efficiently
• Transporting bins to and from waste facilities
• Completing daily pre-start vehicle inspections and reporting defects
• Keeping the truck, equipment and work area clean and well maintained
• Following road rules, WHS procedures, and waste disposal requirements
• Communicating with customers and the office regarding deliveries, collections and issues
• Carrying out general yard duties and assisting with equipment maintenance
• Representing Hometown Skips professionally at every job site

Hometown Skips is a locally owned and operated skip bin business looking for a reliable, hardworking and safety-conscious truck driver to join the team in Mackay. No two days are the same. You'll be out on the road delivering and collecting skip bins, meeting customers and keeping things running smoothly. You'll be an important part of the team and help ensure customers receive reliable, friendly service every time.

Key responsibilities

• Delivering, collecting and positioning skip bins safely and efficiently
• Transporting bins to and from waste facilities
• Completing daily pre-start vehicle inspections and reporting defects
• Keeping the truck, equipment and work area clean and well maintained
• Following road rules, workplace health and safety procedures, and waste disposal requirements
• Communicating with customers and the office regarding deliveries, collections and any issues
• Carrying out general yard duties and assisting with equipment maintenance when required
• Representing Hometown Skips professionally at every job site

About you

• A current Queensland HR truck licence
• Previous truck driving experience, ideally with skip bins or similar vehicles
• A strong work ethic and a reliable, can-do attitude
• A commitment to workplace health and safety
• Good communication and customer service skills
• The ability to work independently and manage your daily runs
• Physical fitness to handle the demands of the role, including climbing in and out of the truck throughout the day
• A neat and organised approach to your truck, equipment and loads
• Your own reliable transport and the right to work in Australia
• Successful completion of a pre-employment medical, drug and alcohol screening, and fitness-for-work assessment is required prior to commencing employment
