Job summary

Redcliffe Skips is seeking a reliable Skip Truck Driver to transport waste, collect skip and hook bins, drop loads at depots, and move equipment between sites, our storage yard and the warehouse. Most work is based in Brisbane and Brisbane North, with occasional duties for our sister company, Initial Services (demolition and asbestos removal).

This casual role aims to move to full-time for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Commercial driving experience with heavy vehicles (skip bin and hook trucks).
• Familiarity with safety regulations for waste transport and handling.
• Ability to perform basic truck maintenance and safety checks.
• Strong communication and teamwork; timely paperwork completion.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport waste to disposal sites and deliver bins and equipment.

• Optimise routes and schedules for timely delivery and pickup.

Day to day, you'll be driving our trucks out to sites, collecting skip and hook bins, dropping loads at waste depots, and occasionally shifting equipment between sites, our storage yard and the warehouse. The majority of work is based in Brisbane and Brisbane North. You'll also occasionally be asked to carry out work for our sister company, Initial Services (demolition and asbestos removal).

Position Purpose

The Skip Truck Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of all waste streams using light trucks, Medium Rigid (MR), Heavy Rigid (HR), and Heavy Combination (HC) trucks. This role ensures compliance with all relevant safety and environmental regulations, while maintaining high standards of operational excellence and customer service.

Core Objectives

• Safe Transportation: Safely transport waste to designated disposal sites, and deliver bins and equipment to commercial and residential sites.
• Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to all local, state and federal regulations regarding the transportation of waste and hazardous materials.
• Operational Efficiency: Optimise routes and schedules for timely delivery and pick-up.
• Vehicle Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections and basic maintenance to keep vehicles in safe working condition.
• Customer Service: Provide excellent service to clients, ensuring their needs are met and any issues are promptly addressed.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE

• Commercial Driving: Proven experience driving heavy vehicles, including skip bin and hook trucks.
• Safety Protocols: Familiarity with safety regulations and protocols related to waste transportation.
• Vehicle Maintenance: Experience performing basic maintenance and safety checks on trucks.
• Team & Communication: Strong communicator, a genuine team player, and someone who completes paperwork in a timely manner.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

• Construction Induction: White Card
• Commercial Driver's Licence: A valid HC or MC truck licence
• Clean Driving Record: No major traffic violations
• Knowledge of Regulations: Understanding of local, state and federal regulations regarding the transportation of materials
• Drug & Alcohol Screening: Successful completion of a screening check at regular intervals as requested

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE

• Experience driving semis
• Experience with Road Ranger gearbox
• Experience transporting hazardous materials, including asbestos
• Forklift High Risk Work licence (LF); Bobcat and Excavator tickets an advantage (or willingness to obtain)
