Qualifications

• Current HR or HC driver’s licence with a clean driving record.
• Supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
• Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and pre-trip inspections.

Responsibilities

• Operate skip/hook trucks safely and transport loads.
• Supervise and manage yard operations and staff.
• Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Load/unload skip bins and hook-lift containers; ensure weight compliance.
• Maintain detailed trip, load, fuel and yard records.
• Mentor junior drivers and yard staff for safety.
• Coordinate with customers and dispatch on pickup/delivery schedules.
• Monitor yard safety and ensure equipment is well maintained.
• Identify efficiencies and support continuous improvement.

Taglan Transport Pty Ltd is seeking a Skip/Hook Truck Driver - Yard Supervisor to join our team in Riverview, QLD. This is a full-time position that combines operational driving responsibilities with supervisory duties. You will play a critical role in managing our yard operations whilst maintaining standards of safety and efficiency. This position is essential to our logistics operations, ensuring seamless coordination between our transport fleet, yard staff and clients, and directly contributing to the success of our waste management services.

Key responsibilities

• Operate skip/hook trucks safely and efficiently, transporting loads whilst adhering to all road transport regulations and company safety protocols
• Supervise and manage yard operations, including the coordination of staff, equipment maintenance and workflow organisation
• Conduct pre and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting any mechanical issues or safety concerns promptly
• Ensure proper loading and unloading of skip bins and hook-lift containers, maintaining load security and compliance with weight restrictions
• Maintain detailed records of trips, loads, fuel consumption and yard activities
• Mentor and provide guidance to junior drivers and yard staff, promoting a strong safety culture
• Communicate effectively with customers and dispatch regarding pickup schedules and delivery times
• Monitor yard safety standards and ensure all equipment is maintained in good working order
• Identify operational efficiencies and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives

What we're looking for

• Current Heavy Rigid (HR) or Heavy Combination (HC) driver's licence with a clean driving record
• Supervisory or team leadership experience would be well regarded
• Sound knowledge of vehicle maintenance, pre-trip inspections and mechanical troubleshooting
• Understanding of road transport safety regulations
• Organisational and communication skills
• Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual tasks associated with yard operations
• Commitment to workplace safety and incident prevention
