Job summary

Norhire in Cairns is seeking a casual Heavy Rigid driver to safely operate skip/hook trucks, deliver bins and provide excellent customer service. You will perform pre/post-trip checks, adhere to road rules, and keep accurate delivery/incident records while supporting yard and maintenance tasks.

Opportunities exist to switch to a permanent position. The role requires at least 2 years’ experience with heavy trucks and a current HR licence, with a Monday–Friday casual schedule and no weekend work

Qualifications

• Valid HR driver's licence.
• At least 2 years' experience operating a skip truck and/or hook truck or similar heavy vehicle.
• Experience operating sorting grab on excavator highly desirable.
• Excellent customer service skills and the ability to work independently.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety.
• Flexibility to work a casual schedule during the week with no weekend or public holiday work except in emergencies.

What you\u2019ll be doing

• Safely operating a skip/hook truck to transport and deliver skip bins to customer sites

• Conducting pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure the truck is in safe operating condition
• Adhering to all relevant road rules, safety regulations and company policies
• Maintaining accurate records of deliveries, pickups and any incidents
• Assisting with general yard, recycling and maintenance duties as needed

What we\u2019re looking for
