Job summary

Design & Build Recruitment in Melbourne is seeking an experienced Design Coordinator to join its construction team. The role focuses on coordinating architectural and consultant documentation across live projects, bridging the design team and site-based construction teams to ensure builds are coordinated and delivered on time.

You'll work on multi-projects valued between $30M and $60M, supporting Project Managers and Site Managers with design amendments, RFIs, and buildability solutions,

Qualifications

• Degree in Architecture, Architectural Technology, or related field.
• Experience as Design Coordinator/Design Manager or similar in construction.
• Experience on multi-residential, social housing, apartment or commercial projects.
• Ability to interpret drawings and construction documentation.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate architectural and consultant documentation across multiple live construction projects.
• Act as the link between the design team and site-based construction teams.
• Review architectural drawings, specifications, and shop drawings to identify discrepancies and buildability issues.
• Manage RFIs, design queries, and technical issues raised by the construction team and subcontractors.
• Coordinate design amendments and ensure updated documentation is communicated to stakeholders.
• Review subcontractor shop drawings to ensure alignment with architectural intent.
• Collaborate with subcontractors to resolve technical and design queries on site.
• Identify design inconsistencies, omissions and potential construction issues before they impact programme.
• Attend site meetings and coordinate with the project team to progress design matters.
• Monitor design deliverables and ensure information is issued in line with construction programmes.
• Provide technical advice and practical design solutions throughout the build.
