We're looking for an experienced Shopify Ecommerce Specialist to help build a new Shopify store from the ground up and manage it as it grows. Our client is an established Australian supplier of homewares and sanitaryware with a large, multi-brand product range. As part of a brand refresh, they're creating a new Shopify store and need someone who can turn a complex product catalogue into a well-structured, easy-to-shop online experience. You'll work closely with the Australian team and an external designer, taking ownership of the Shopify build, catalogue structure, implementation, and ongoing ecommerce management.
Key Responsibilities
Shopify Store Build
- Plan and build catalogue structures for a large SKU range, including categories, collections, product types, tags, and metafields.
- Set up navigation, menus, filters, and Search & Discovery functionality across thousands of products.
- Bulk-import and organise products using CSV or Matrixify, including variants, specifications, images, and PDF spec sheets.
- Customise Shopify 2.0 themes, including product, collection, and landing page templates.
- Make light Liquid/CSS edits where required.
- Set up redirects from the existing website to preserve search rankings.
Design Collaboration
- Work with the internal team to develop clear design briefs for the external designer.
- Provide input on site structure, page requirements, templates, functionality, and reference websites.
- Act as the bridge between the business and designer, ensuring designs are practical and achievable within Shopify.
- Implement approved designs within the Shopify theme.
Ongoing Ecommerce Management
- Maintain accurate product data, pricing, collections, and catalogue information.
- Recommend, install, and manage Shopify apps where appropriate.
- Monitor site performance, search terms, broken links, and opportunities for improvement.
- Manage basic on-page SEO, including meta titles, descriptions, alt text, and URL structure.
- Continuously look for ways to improve the customer shopping experience.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of hands-on Shopify experience, including at least one full Shopify store build.
- Experience managing large catalogues with 1,000+ SKUs.
- Strong experience with complex product variants, collections, filters, and catalogue structures.
- Strong CSV and bulk product data management skills.
- Matrixify experience is highly regarded.
- Working knowledge of Shopify 2.0 themes, sections, and metafields.
- Basic Liquid and CSS knowledge.
- Strong ecommerce thinking, with the ability to structure products based on how customers actually shop.
- Clear written English and confidence writing briefs and explaining recommendations.
- Ability to provide links to Shopify stores you have built or managed and explain your contribution to each.
Nice to Have
- Experience in building supplies, bathroom, homewares, furniture, or similar ecommerce industries.
- Experience migrating an existing website to Shopify.
- Familiarity with Figma for reviewing designer files.
- Experience with Google Analytics and Google Search Console.
