Job summary

InterContinental Sydney is seeking a proactive Shift Engineer to join our Engineering team. You will carry out daily maintenance and engineering operations across the hotel and respond to guest and colleague requests in a timely, professional manner.

The role requires 2+ years in engineering or maintenance, experience in hotel environments, and a strong focus on safety and documentation. Full Australian working rights and the ability to work in a fast-paced setting are essential.

Qualifications

• 2+ years' experience in engineering, maintenance, or similar.
• Hotel or hospitality environment experience is highly regarded.
• Experience with preventative maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Proactive approach to building relationships with colleagues, contractors and external stakeholders.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritise workload.
• Strong organisational, written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to safe working practices.
• Full Australian working rights.

We have an opportunity for a Shift Engineer to join our Engineering team.

Salary - $79,423

Your day to day

Joining our Engineering team, you will:

• Carry out daily maintenance and engineering operations across the entire hotel.
• Respond to maintenance requests and attend to guest and colleague requirements in a timely and professional manner.
• Complete preventative maintenance across hotel plant, equipment and facilities.
• Troubleshoot and resolve maintenance issues efficiently, minimising disruption to hotel operations and the guest experience.
• Ensure all engineering work is completed safely, on time and in compliance with relevant requirements.
• Work closely with internal teams, contractors and external stakeholders to coordinate maintenance and repairs.
• Support project planning and the delivery of maintenance initiatives across the hotel.
• Maintain strong records and documentation relating to maintenance activities.
• Contribute to a proactive Engineering culture focused on safety, reliability and continuous improvement.

What We Need From You

• 2+ years’ experience in Engineering, Maintenance or a similar role is advantageous.
• Previous experience in a hotel or hospitality environment is highly regarded.
• Experience with preventative maintenance and a practical approach to troubleshooting and problem solving.
• A proactive approach to developing and maintaining strong relationships with colleagues, contractors and external stakeholders.
• The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritise workload effectively.
