Job summary

InterContinental Sydney is seeking a Shift Engineer to join our Engineering team. Working behind the scenes of a luxury hotel, you will carry out daily maintenance and oversee engineering operations to ensure safe, reliable and impeccably maintained facilities for guests and colleagues.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in engineering or maintenance, experience in hospitality, and a proactive approach to safety, problem solving and building strong relationships with contractors and internal

Qualifications

• 2+ years’ experience in Engineering or Maintenance.
• Experience in a hotel or hospitality environment is highly regarded.
• Experience with preventative maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Proactive approach to developing and maintaining relationships with colleagues, contractors and external stakeholders.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritise workload.
• Strong organisational, written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to safe working practices.
• Full Australian working rights.

Responsibilities

• Carry out daily maintenance and engineering operations across the entire hotel.
• Respond to maintenance requests and attend to guest and colleague requirements promptly.
• Complete preventative maintenance across hotel plant, equipment and facilities.
• Troubleshoot and resolve maintenance issues efficiently, minimising disruption to hotel operations and guest experience.
• Ensure all engineering work is completed safely, on time and in compliance with relevant requirements.
• Work closely with internal teams, contractors and external stakeholders to coordinate maintenance and repairs.
• Support project planning and the delivery of maintenance initiatives across the hotel.
• Maintain strong records and documentation relating to maintenance activities.
• Contribute to a proactive Engineering culture focused on safety, reliability and continuous improvement.
