InterContinental Sydney Double Bay is seeking a hands-on Handyperson to join our five-star hotel team. The role covers general maintenance and upkeep across the premises, with duties ranging from minor plumbing and carpentry to painting and lighting tasks.

The position requires full working rights in Australia, a 7-day rotating roster including weekends, and strong grooming and communication skills. On-site duties support a refined guest experience in a luxury setting.

Qualifications

• Ability to work a 7-day rotating roster including weekend, morning and afternoon shifts.
• Impeccable grooming standards and good personal hygiene.
• Organised approach with ability to handle multiple requests simultaneously.
• Good communication and writing skills.
• Physical fitness to be on your feet most of the day; lift up to 23 kg with provided equipment.
• General maintenance duties: minor plumbing, carpentry, painting; room automation; lighting maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Perform duties as requested by the Maintenance Manager.
• General maintenance and upkeep of hotel premises.
• Minor plumbing e.g. tap washers, toilet flushers and seals.
• Minor carpentry work such as installing skirting boards and adjustments.
• Minor painting including repairs to wallpaper.
• Changing light globes and maintaining in-house TV and movie system.

What we need from you

Full working rights in Australia without restrictions (sponsorship is not available for this role)

Ability to work a 7-day rotating roster including weekend, morning and afternoon shifts.

Impeccable grooming standards and good personal hygiene

An organised approach, ability to handle large amounts of information at once and deal with various requests simultaneously

Good communication and writing skills.

Physical fitness as you’ll be on your feet most of the day. Sometimes you’ll need to lift, push and pull objects, such as tables, up to 23 kg – we have the equipment to support you and keep you safe.

Perform duties as requested by the Maintenance Manager.

General maintenance and upkeep of the hotel premises.

Minor plumbing e.g. tap washers, toilet flushers and seals

Minor carpentry work e.g. installation of skirting boards and adjustment

Minor Painting work including minor repairs to wallpaper

Changing light globes, maintaining the in-house Television and movie system, room automation system.

Minor bathroom repairs e.g. grouting and minor repairs to tiles, replacement of silicone, minor water damage, etc
