Job summary

Downer is seeking a SharePoint Administrator in Canberra/Sydney to support on-premise SharePoint environments and deliver complex defence-related intranets and document systems.

You will work within Downer Professional Services on a large Fleet Modernisation program, requiring strong governance, security clearance, and cross-site collaboration across Australia.

Qualifications

• Defence ICT experience is required.
• Strong knowledge of SharePoint architecture, site admin, permissions and service applications.
• Proficient in PowerShell scripting and SharePoint automation.
• Experience in a distributed ICT infrastructure with multi-site support.
• Familiarity with SQL Server, IIS, Windows Server and networking as they relate to SharePoint.
• Ability to translate customer requirements into practical design solutions.

• Design and implement collaboration solutions, intranet portals, and document management.
• Lead infrastructure enhancements for performance, scalability and availability.
• Integrate SharePoint with AD, Exchange, SQL Server and file services.

Job description

Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia's future. Downer Professional Services comprises of three business units: our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice, and Team Downer, which partners with CASG and NSSG as a major service provider to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for clients across Defence and National Security. We currently have an opportunity for a SharePoint Administrator in Canberra /Sydney to work on a large Fleet Modernisation piece of work. This is a max-term employment until 30 June 2027.

What You'll Do

• Administer and maintain on-premise SharePoint environments (2016/2019), including site collections, permissions, service applications, and workflows.
• Design and implement collaboration solutions, intranet portals, document management systems, and custom content types based on business needs.
• Lead infrastructure enhancement initiatives to improve the performance, scalability, and availability of SharePoint across a distributed system.
• Integrate SharePoint with enterprise systems such as Active Directory, Exchange, SQL Server, and file services.
• Support automation of administrative tasks using PowerShell and streamline content management workflows.
• Contribute to the standardization and templating of site deployments and user provisioning processes.

What You'll Bring

• Demonstrated experience in Defence as an ICT Technician.
• Strong knowledge of SharePoint architecture, site administration, permission models, and service applications.
• Proficient in PowerShell scripting and SharePoint automation.
• Experience in a distributed ICT infrastructure environment with multi-site support requirements.
• Familiarity with SQL Server, IIS, Windows Server, and networking fundamentals as they relate to SharePoint.
• Demonstrated ability to take customer requirements, standards and frameworks and apply in a practical application to future proposed solution designs and systems.

Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a Security clearance (AGSVA) as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
