Job summary

Laser Machines is seeking an experienced Service Technician to join our Hallam, VIC team. The role covers installation, commissioning, servicing, maintenance and repair of industrial machinery including fibre laser cutting machines, CNC presses and related equipment.

You will work independently and with our team to diagnose issues, support customers across Victoria, and ensure equipment performs to standard. Travel to sites is required, with occasional interstate travel.

Qualifications

• Experience servicing industrial machinery or machine tools.
• Strong mechanical and/or electrical background.
• Experience with laser cutting machinery, CNC machinery, press brakes or similar equipment.
• Field service or mobile technician experience.

About the Role

Laser Machines is looking for an experienced and hands-on Service Technician to join our team in Hallam, VIC.

This is a varied role involving the installation, commissioning, servicing, maintenance and repair of industrial machinery, including fibre laser cutting machines, CNC press brakes and associated metalworking equipment.

Working both independently and alongside our team, you will provide technical support to customers across Victoria and, where required, other parts of Australia. You’ll work directly with customers to diagnose and resolve technical issues, keep machinery operating reliably, and ensure equipment is performing to the required standard.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, commission and service laser cutting machines, CNC press brakes and other machine tools
• Carry out preventative maintenance, repairs and equipment inspections
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and control-system issues
• Attend customer sites to assess and resolve machinery faults
• Perform machine setup, calibration, testing and commissioning
• Provide technical support and practical advice to customers
• Identify faulty components and assist with parts and replacement requirements
• Complete service reports and relevant job documentation
• Work with the Laser Machines team to resolve complex technical issues
• Maintain a professional and customer-focused approach when working onsite
• Travel to customer sites as required (Regular travel to customer sites is required, with occasional interstate travel and overnight stays as required.)

About You

• Previous experience servicing, maintaining or repairing industrial machinery or machine tools
• A strong mechanical and/or electrical background
• Experience troubleshooting and diagnosing mechanical, electrical and technical faults
• Experience with laser cutting machinery, CNC machinery, press brakes or similar equipment will be highly regarded
• Experience working in a field service or mobile technician role
• The ability to read and understand electrical, mechanical and machine documentation
• Strong problem-solving skills and a methodical approach to fault finding
• The ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team
• Good communication skills and the ability to explain technical issues clearly to customers
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills
• A professional, reliable and customer-focused approach
• A willingness and ability to travel to customer sites as required

Qualifications & Licences

• Relevant qualifications or experience in one or more of the following areas will be advantageous:
• Mechanical Engineering
• Electrical Engineering
• Electrotechnology
• Fitting and Machining
• Mechatronics
• A current driver's licence is essential.
• Relevant electrical licences, trade qualifications or other technical certifications will be highly regarded.
