Job summary

Queensland Corrective Services – Woodford QLD is seeking an Assistant Manager to support the Manager and contribute to day-to-day operations within a unit. The role covers quality assurance and governance oversight to ensure compliance with legislation, directives and policies governing prisoner detention, security classification and placement.

You will supervise staff, support performance management, training and development, and analyse trends and workloads to ensure resources meet demand.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising and leading a team within a structured environment.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines while escalating issues appropriately.
• Experience in interpreting and applying legislation, policy and directives in an operational setting.
• Proven governance and oversight capabilities with data-driven service delivery.
• Strong written and oral communication skills with attention to detail in complex reports.
• Proven skills in staff engagement, coaching, mentoring and conducting difficult conversations.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to the Manager and contribute to day-to-day operations of a unit.
• Oversee quality assurance and governance to ensure compliance with legislation and directives.
• Support staff performance, training and development and analyse trends/workloads for resource allocation.
• Report to the Manager, Sentence Management services on performance and issues.
