Job summary

Tadano Oceania is seeking an experienced Senior Welder/Fabricator to operate across our WA and QLD workshop and site environments. You will repair and modify structural crane components, support fabrication, and travel regionally between branches to service customers.

The role offers exposure to high-level welding in the crane industry, with training to Tadano level specialised welder standards and opportunities for career growth.

Qualifications

  • Trade qualified Welder/Fabricator with MEM30319 or equivalent
  • Experience with high-strength quenched and tempered steels AS1554.4 is highly regarded
  • ISO 9606-1 certifications are highly regarded
  • AS 1796 certifications are advantageous
  • Experience welding pressure vessels or similar
  • Proficient in GMAW, SMAW, GTAW processes
  • White Card and construction site safety awareness
  • Current Heavy Vehicle HRWL licence (if available)
  • Overhead crane awareness and rigging capability
  • Willingness to travel regionally and between branches
  • Ability to work in a collaborative workshop team or autonomously and keep daily reports
  • Understanding of construction equipment basics
  • Assist heavy vehicle workshop with mechanical and rigging tasks
  • Carry out ad hoc tasks as required by workshop manager

  • Complete welding reports and documentation on time
  • Maintain safety and WHS compliance while working
  • Manage welding consumables and equipment
  • Work independently and as part of a workshop team across sites
  • Travel regionally between branches as required

About the Role

Tadano Oceania Workshops are high-output service workshops within the Tadano Oceania branches with QLD and WA offering a fully equipped workshop/fabrication bay to the role.

This position can be based in either Lytton, QLD or Hope Valley, WA.

As an experienced Welder/ Fabricator, you will work across workshop and site environments completing repairs and modifications on structural components of our Mobile Cranes, supporting the fabrication, repair and maintenance needs of our operations.

Whether based in QLD or WA, this role has a requirement to travel regionally and between branches across WA, QLD, SA, NSW and VIC to support our products and service our valued customers as required.

Reporting to the branch based Workshop Manager, the role offers an exciting opportunity to be exposed to a variety of interesting and specialised fabrication/welding work within the crane industry and develop high level technical repair skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ability to read and follow Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS)
  • Perform high-quality welding and fabrication work according to the required standard
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Proficient in measuring and aligning components
  • Assemble/ disassemble mechanical components for welding repairs
  • Ensure maximumquality control on all work performed
  • Co-ordinate third-party Non-Destructive Testing
  • Ensure welding reports and required documentation are completed on time
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and within WHS requirements
  • Manage welding consumables and equipment for efficiency and reliability
  • Work both independently and as part of a workshop team across multiple sites
  • Travel regionally and between company branches as required.
What we are looking for in our ideal candidate
  • Trade qualified Welder/Fabricator (Certificate III in Engineering -Fabrication Trade (MEM30319 or equivalent )
  • Additional experience certifications - (if available)
  • Experience in Structural welding high strength quenched and tempered steels AS1554.4 (highly regarded)
  • Certifications under International Standard ISO 9606-1 ( highly regarded)
  • Tickets or certification under Australian Standard AS 1796
  • Experience in welding pressure vessels or similar
  • Competence in GMAW, SMAW, GTAW processes
  • A pride in completing high quality work
  • Working safely in the construction industry White Card
  • Current Driver’s Licence ( Heavy Rigid - if available)
  • Overhead crane awareness
  • Hold relevant licences: HRWL, Working at Heights, Dogging.
  • Willingness to work overtime or regularly travel to suit operational needs
  • Ability to work as a collaborative Workshop team member as well as work autonomously when offsite and keep accurate daily work reports and issue reporting
  • Understanding of basic systems in construction equipment
  • Abilityto assist heavy vehicle workshop with mechanical tasks when not welding
  • Abilityto assist heavy vehicle workshop with rigging tasks when not welding
  • Carry out any ad hoc tasks as required by the workshop manager
