Job summary

Fyfe in Sydney is seeking an experienced Senior Water Engineer to lead a major strategic growth program. This 6‑month contract offers technical leadership in water servicing strategies, hydraulic modelling, and development servicing across growth areas and government housing initiatives.

You will guide network analysis, support long‑term capital planning, and mentor a small team while ensuring robust technical outputs and clear guidance for projects and connection enquiries.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Engineering or an equivalent technical discipline.
• More than 10 years' experience in water network planning and hydraulic modelling.
• Demonstrated experience using water network hydraulic modelling software.
• Experience applying modelling to strategic planning, development servicing or infrastructure investment.
• Strong understanding of water network infrastructure and system behaviour.
• Experience providing technical leadership, peer review or mentoring.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic growth planning: Supervise water network modelling and develop practical servicing strategies for priority growth areas
• Assess network capacity: Identify pressure, flow and capacity constraints, infrastructure triggers and future augmentation needs
• Oversee hydraulic modelling: Guide model development, simulations, assumptions, methodologies and technical documentation
• Advise on developments: Assess servicing proposals and connection enquiries and provide clear advice on constraints, upgrades and requirements
• Provide technical leadership: Lead and mentor a small team, review engineering outputs and provide technical assurance
• Support investment planning: Contribute to network plans, infrastructure staging and long-term capital investment priorities

Fyfe is seeking an experienced Senior Water Engineer to support a major strategic growth program. This is a 6-month contract opportunity with the possibility of a further 6-month extension. You will provide technical leadership in the development of water servicing strategies, assessing how future growth, government housing initiatives and major development areas may affect the water network. The role combines hydraulic modelling, network analysis, strategic planning and technical guidance for development and connection enquiries.
