Job summary

The Porepunkah Pub is seeking an experienced hospitality leader to join as Second-in-Charge (2IC). This senior, hands-on role works with the Venue Manager to run day-to-day operations and build a high-performing team.

You will be confident leading a team, making decisions during busy service, and be hands-on across all areas when required. You will support staff supervision, training and development, maintain service standards, and help implement opening/closing procedures.

Qualifications

• Previous hospitality experience, ideally in a busy, high-volume venue (essential)
• Strong leadership, people-management and communication skills (essential)
• Strong understanding of customer service and venue operations (essential)
• Ability to confidently lead a team during busy periods (essential)
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability (essential)
• Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure (essential)
• Reliable, organised and able to work independently (essential)
• Willingness to work across different areas of the venue when required (essential)
• Prior experience in bar operations, front-of-house supervision, restaurant management or broader venue management (desirable)

Responsibilities

• Support the Venue Manager with day‑to‑day running of the pub and take charge when unavailable.
• Provide strong leadership and direction to front‑of‑house, bar and other operational team members.
• Lead shifts and ensure services are organized, efficient and delivered to a high standard.
• Support staff during busy periods and step into operational roles when required.
• Maintain high standards of customer service, presentation, cleanliness and professionalism.
