Job summary

Mondrian Gold Coast, a luxury 208-room hotel in Surfers Paradise, seeks a hands-on Restaurant Host & Reservations to ensure smooth dining room operations. You will greet, seat and assist guests, manage the bookings and collaborate with the AI phone reservation system to deliver seamless service.

Role sits between front of house and reservations, with shifts at the door and behind the scenes. Experience in hotel or fine-dining environments is preferred; Queensland RSA is required or obtainable

Qualifications

• Experience in a hotel, fine-dining or high-volume restaurant.
• Comfortable using reservation systems.
• Willingness to obtain Queensland RSA before starting.
• Availability for rotating shifts including evenings, weekends and public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Welcome, seat and farewell guests, setting the tone for every visit.
• Manage reservations through SevenRooms, including the venue reservations inbox and online bookings.
• Work with our AI phone reservations system, handling calls and escalations.
• Complete daily reservations clearing at three points: before lunch, changeover, and end of night.
• Collaborate with Venue Managers on table allocation, covers, pacing and seating plans.
• Keep guest profiles up to date with preferences, allergies and occasions, and support VIP program.
• Handle guest feedback and concerns on the spot and escalate when needed.
• Support special events and private functions as required.

Mondrian Gold Coast is a 208-room luxury lifestyle hotel in Surfers Paradise, part of the Ennismore family. Our dining venues are built on great food, sharp service and a bit of theatre, and the host stand is where that experience starts.

About the role

As Restaurant Host & Reservations, you’ll be the person who makes the room work. You’ll greet and seat guests with warmth, read the floor, and keep the reservations book clean, accurate and full. You’ll recognise our regulars and VIPs, remember the anniversary, and make sure the kitchen and floor team know what’s coming before it arrives.

This is a hands-on role that sits between front of house and reservations, so you’ll spend part of your shift at the door and part of it managing bookings behind the scenes.

What you’ll do

• Welcome, seat and farewell guests, setting the tone for every visit
• Manage reservations through SevenRooms, including the venue reservations inbox (our main booking channel) and online bookings
• Work alongside our AI phone reservations system, picking up calls and requests it escalates to the venue
• Complete the daily reservations clearing at three set points: before lunch service, at changeover, and at the end of night, so nothing is missed or double-booked
• Work with Venue Managers on table allocation, covers, pacing and seating plans
• Keep guest profiles up to date with preferences, allergies and special occasions, and drive our guest recognition and VIP program
• Handle guest feedback and concerns on the spot, and elevate when needed
• Support special events, private functions and other venues when required

What we’re looking for

• Required:
  • Hosting, reservations or front-of-house experience in a hotel, fine-dining or high-volume restaurant
  • Comfortable using reservation or booking software
  • Availability for rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends and public holidays
  • Queensland RSA, or willingness to obtain one before starting
• Preferred:
  • Experience with SevenRooms and/or Micros Simphony
  • Luxury hotel or fine-dining background
  • Experience running a busy door with walk-ins and a full book
