Job summary

BHP is seeking a Senior Engineer Mining for Carrapateena in South Australia. The role centers on delivering the 13-week mine plan, driving safety and cost performance, and enabling a ramp‑up to future block cave operations.

You will lead development and underground activities, design and schedule mining works, manage budgets, and mentor junior engineers while collaborating with cross‑functional teams across reliability, technology and planning.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years' experience in underground mining with Development mining experience preferred.
• Experience in mine design, scheduling, and production activities.
• Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering.
• UG experience of at least one year is essential.
• Shift supervision experience is advantageous.
• Ability to interact with multiple internal stakeholders.
• Contract administration experience is advantageous.
• Project management experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Liaise with underground crews to develop ideas, implement changes and build cross-team relationships.
• Compile reports and provide expertise to analyze production performance indicators.
• Analyse and determine equipment capability assumptions.
• Identify functional capability gaps and recommend improvements to leadership.
• Prepare inputs to form the production budget and create operating standards and work instructions.
• Provide feedback to Planning & Technical teams to improve future plans, designs, schedules and forecasts.
• Engage with Reliability and Technology teams to explore modifications and new capabilities.
• Guide development of junior team members technically and via field coaching.
