Job summary

BHP at Carrapateena in South Australia is seeking a Senior Engineer Mining to lead the 13-week mine plan, development and raisebore activities, while maintaining safety and cost discipline. The role focuses on driving continuous safety and production improvements, collaborating with underground crews, and shaping the site during a ramp-up of automation and digital systems.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in underground mining, development mining preferred
• Experience in mine design, scheduling and production
• Tertiary Mining Engineering degree
• UG experience of at least one year essential
• Shift supervision experience advantageous
• Strong stakeholder interaction across teams
• Experience in contract administration advantageous
• Project management experience valued
• Strong time management and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

• Liaise with underground crews to develop ideas and implement them across teams
• Compile reports and assess production performance indicators
• Analyse equipment capability assumptions
• Identify capability gaps and recommend improvements to leadership
• Prepare inputs for the production budget and write operating standards/procedures
• Provide feedback to Planning & Technical teams to improve future plans
• Engage with Reliability and Technology teams on modifications and capabilities
• Mentor and coach junior team members in the field
