Job summary

Gold Fields Group Services (Pty) Ltd is seeking a Senior Mine Controller to oversee real-time coordination and real-time optimisation of underground mining activities at Granny Smith mine, ensuring safe and productive operations.

The role operates from the underground control room on an 8/6 days and 7/7 nights rotating roster, providing day-to-day leadership to Mine Controllers while remaining actively engaged in Mine Control duties.

Qualifications

• Significant underground mining experience in mine control/dispatch operations.
• Advanced proficiency with Fleet Management Systems (e.g., Pitram, ABB Ability).
• Leadership capable of coaching, mentoring and training for operational excellence.
• Strong knowledge of underground mining operations, processes, safety standards and lifecycles.
• High-level situational awareness to problem-solve and manage live operations.
• Excellent communication across technical, operational and supervisory teams.
• Valid manual C Class Driver’s Licence.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate underground mining activities and personnel in real time using Fleet Management Systems to ensure safety and production plans.
• Lead, train and coach Mine Controllers to build capability and a high-performance culture.
• Oversee emergency response, track personnel, and coordinate safety systems during incidents.
• Identify bottlenecks and drive improvements across Mine Control processes and systems.
