Job summary

QBE Insurance Group in Melbourne is seeking a Senior Technical Claims Specialist to lead and coach a team handling large and complex commercial property claims, including Business Interruption and ISR. You will partner with customers, brokers, loss adjusters and suppliers to ensure efficient claim outcomes while adhering to jurisdictional requirements and QBE's strategy.

The opportunity

Join QBE as a Senior Technical Claims Specialist, providing technical expertise across large and complex commercial property claims. You will support the Service Manager and the broader Commercial Large and Complex team to strengthen capability across the claims team through coaching and technical a guidance.

Your new role

You will support complex and large-value commercial property claims, including Business Interruption and Industrial Special Risks (ISR). Working with senior claims officers and external partners, you will help ensure valid claims are assessed and managed effectively and efficiently in line with jurisdictional requirements and QBE claims strategy.

• Support and mentor Senior Claims Officers to strengthen technical capability.

About You

You are an experienced commercial property claims professional who combines strong technical expertise with a solutions-focused and supportive approach. You are confident working through complex claims and periods of change, with the ability to support others while maintaining a professional and empathetic customer focus.

You’ll also have:

• Extensive experience managing large and complex commercial property claims valued at $1 million or more.
• Experience managing ISR claims.
• Previous experience coaching or leading a team.
• Strong technical capability within commercial property claims.
• A focus on improving end-to-end claims management performance.
• A self-motivated and resilient approach, with strong customer empathy and professionalism.
