Job summary

L3Harris Australia (Integrated Mission Systems Australia) seeks a Systems Engineer to support contracted outputs for underwater range tracking capabilities and shore facilities. You will collaborate with software, V&V, safety, cyber, CM & ILS teams to deliver artefacts and support the SEA-1180 program across design, delivery and integration.

The role involves occasional travel to customer sites (Henderson) and End User Site (Garden Island, WA) and representing the company with clients on

Qualifications

• Experience in the Systems Engineering Lifecycle and ability to develop and review engineering artefacts.
• Willingness to obtain NV1 Australian Defence Clearance.
• Defence industry experience is preferred.
• Degree in Communications/Electrical/Electronics/Systems Engineering or similar.
• Ability to develop specifications, requirements, design and test procedures.
• Knowledge of communications equipment and systems operation.

About the role

The Systems Engineer supports the creation and review of contracted engineering outputs involved in delivering fixed/deployable underwater range tracking capabilities and associated shore facilities. The Systems Engineer will have to collaborate with the Software, V&V, Safety, Cyber, Configuration Management & ILS functions to deliver these artefacts.

Specific to the SEA-1180 program the Senior Systems Engineer takes ownership for the delivery of allocated CDRLs supporting the development and delivery of key sub-systems. There will be occasional local travel to customer’s shipbuilding site (Henderson) and the End User Site (Garden Island, WA).

The Systems Engineer will need to be comfortable and confident representing the company by working with system designers/suppliers and the client/customer community to provide timely and accurate engineering advice.

Your remit will be as broad as it is challenging. Key responsibilities may include but not be limited to; support the production and delivery of engineering documentation across the project lifecycle;support the technical solutions (systems definition, design and architecture) through the project/program lifecycle that best optimise cost, schedule and quality;Consideration of design for “X” principles such as design for testing, maintenance and support.

Qualifications and Experience

• Demonstrated relevant experience in the Systems Engineering Lifecycle.

• Able and willing to obtain and hold an Australian Defence Security Clearance to NV1

• Defence industry experience preferred

• Degree in Communications/Electrical/Electronics/Systems Engineering or similar

• Development of specifications, requirements, design, and test procedures

• Knowledge of the operation of communications equipment and systems.
