Job summary

Amazon in Australia is seeking a Senior System Development Engineer for Core Networking, based in Melbourne or Sydney with relocation support. You will own and evolve software services that run the AWS network region, driving automation and reliability while collaborating with global teams.

You will mentor engineers, contribute to architecture, and lead initiatives to reduce operational burden through scalable solutions, aligning with the programme’s strategic goals and delivering resilient

Qualifications

5+ years deploying and operating in a Linux/Unix environment.
5+ years of systems development in an IT or data center environment.
3+ years of systems design, software development, operations, automation, and process improvement.
3+ years of programming with modern languages (C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby).
Experience leading the design, automation, deployment, and support of large-scale infrastructure.

Responsibilities

Own the software services and platforms that keep the AWS network running within the region.
Lead the engineering effort to reinvent services to be more resilient & scalable.
Mentor engineers and contribute to architectural decisions for the programme.
Develop automation that reduces operational toil and improves reliability.
Collaborate with global teams to deploy and monitor network services.
