Job summary

FinClear is seeking a hands-on Senior Solutions Architect to shape platforms behind equities trading, clearing and settlement across Australia. Based in Perth, Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane, you’ll own the design of our biggest solutions and act as technical lead for engineering teams while still writing code.

You’ll use AI tooling for design, documentation and review, lead Architecture Review Board sessions, ensure security and regulatory compliance, and mentor engineers and testers across

Qualifications

• 10+ years building enterprise backend systems in Java or equivalent.
• 2+ years as a technical lead or architect.
• Deep hands-on AWS experience (EC2, ECS, RDS, S3, SQS, SNS, Route 53).
• Strong PostgreSQL/SQL/Redis data skills and distributed design.
• Proven ability to estimate complex work and manage dependencies.
• Confidently explain designs to engineers, execs and partners.
• Degree in CS/IT or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Design the solution from Enterprise Architecture inputs with security and scalability in mind.
• Lead a team technically, set direction, unblock engineers and maintain code quality.
• Provide accurate estimates to enable planning and prioritisation.
• Lead delivery across multiple teams and manage dependencies.
• Stay hands-on with code review and prototyping using AI tooling.
• Participate in Architecture Review Board sessions and establish reference patterns.
• Ensure security, performance and regulatory requirements are met.
• Collaborate with vendors and third-party teams.
• Mentor engineers and testers across teams.
