The Victorian Government Solicitor's Office (VGSO) invites applications for a Senior Solicitor in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution branch to deliver high-quality legal advice and representation to government clients. Reporting to the Managing Principal Solicitor, you will manage complex civil litigation matters, provide strategic advice, and work within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• 4+ years practising experience.
• Experience in complex and sensitive litigation in state courts and tribunals.
• Experience providing written and oral legal advice.
• Experience acting for government or statutory authorities and/or insurers.
• Experience in personal injury/civil litigation is desirable but not essential.
• Good interpersonal communication skills to connect with team and clients.
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Practical problem solving and research skills with client focus.
• Strong turnaround time and ability to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Conduct civil litigation and prepare advices (with supervision).
• Managing a diverse caseload (with supervision).
• Work with solicitors and paralegals on complex matters.
• Play a key role within the team and branch, including contributing to practice development.
