Job summary

The Victorian Government Solicitor's Office (VGSO) seeks a senior Special Counsel to provide specialized legal advice across government, handling litigated and pre-litigated matters. You will guide teams, manage high-risk files, and contribute to strategic decision-making in a fast-paced public sector environment.

Reporting to the Assistant Victorian Government Solicitor, Litigation & Dispute Resolution, you will help shape the LDR Branch's responses to complex claims, negotiate agreements,

Qualifications

• Senior and highly experienced legal practitioner.
• Experience navigating litigated and pre-litigated claims.
• Ability to manage sensitive subject matter in a fast-paced public sector environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert legal advice to Government clients on complex and sensitive claims and litigation.
• Provide strategic guidance to teams and supervision of files to ensure high-quality, responsive legal services.
• Assist in delivering internal training to develop legal staff within the Branch.
