Job summary

Victoria Government Solicitor's Office (VGSO) invites applications for a Senior Solicitor within the Litigation and Dispute Resolution (LDR) branch. You will provide legal services to government clients, handling complex civil matters and advising on a range of cases.

The role offers a supportive environment with access to senior leadership, and a flexible hybrid work arrangement balancing office and remote work.

Qualifications

• 4+ years practising experience.
• Experience in complex and sensitive litigation in state courts and tribunals.
• Experience providing written and oral legal advice which is fit for purpose.
• Experience acting for government or statutory authorities and/or insurers would be highly regarded.
• Experience in personal injury/civil litigation is desirable but not essential.
• Good interpersonal communication skills to connect with team-members and clients.
• Proven ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct civil litigation and prepare advices (with supervision).
• Manage a diverse caseload (with supervision).
• Work with solicitors and paralegals on complex matters.
• Play a key role within the team and contribute to practice development.
