Job summary

Victorian Government Solicitor's Office (VGSO) is seeking a Principal Solicitor for the Litigation and Dispute Resolution branch. Lead complex civil litigation, supervise junior solicitors and paralegals, and provide expert legal services to government clients.

You will manage a diverse caseload, mentor staff, and contribute to strategic decisions while benefiting from flexible hybrid work arrangements and professional development opportunities within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• 6+ years practising experience in litigation, government or statutory authorities preferred.
• Experience handling complex and sensitive litigation in state courts and tribunals.
• Experience supervising files and mentoring staff.
• Strong written and oral advisory skills tailored for governmental clients.
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Focus on turnaround times and problem solving with sound legal research.
