The Victorian Government Solicitor's Office (VGSO) in Melbourne is seeking a motivated Senior Solicitor to deliver legal services to government clients. The LDR branch handles high-profile civil matters, with dedicated support and a focus on professional development in a collaborative, safe environment.

You will manage civil litigation, provide written and oral advice, and work with solicitors and paralegals across teams.

Qualifications

• 4+ years practising experience in civil or state litigation.
• Experience handling complex and sensitive litigation in state courts and tribunals.
• Experience providing written and oral legal advice.
• Experience for government or statutory authorities and/or insurers.
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong turnaround and research skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct civil litigation and prepare advices with supervision.
• Manage a diverse caseload with supervision.
• Collaborate with solicitors and paralegals on complex matters.
• Contribute to practice development within the team.
• Support other streams within the LDR branch as needed.
