Job summary

Objective Corporation in Sydney, Australia, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Information Intelligence team. This hands-on, full-stack role will design and build robust software while guiding architecture and mentoring others.

You will own complex features across the stack, collaborate with product managers and designers, and help scale SaaS products using Java, Spring Boot, React, TypeScript, and AWS.

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Information Intelligence team. This is a hands-on, full-stack engineering role where you’ll design and build robust, scalable software while influencing architecture, solving complex technical problems and supporting the growth of other engineers.

Reporting to the Development Manager, this is an individual contributor role with significant technical leadership and influence.

What you'll be doing:

You’ll take ownership of complex, high-impact work across the software development lifecycle.

You will:

• Lead the design and development of major product features and core system architecture
• Build scalable and performant applications across Java, Spring Boot, React and TypeScript
• Design and develop RESTful APIs and work with MySQL databases
• Take ownership of complex technical problems, from root-cause analysis through to resolution
• Contribute to roadmap and delivery planning, balancing customer value, business impact and technical quality
• Champion engineering best practice across code quality, automated testing, security and performance
• Support operational excellence through monitoring, observability, error management and technical documentation
• Contribute to cloud-native development using AWS, container orchestration, infrastructure as code and modern CI/CD practices
• Lead code reviews and provide constructive technical feedback
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and help improve the team’s tools, processes and engineering capability
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, designers and other stakeholders to turn customer needs into effective technical solutions

We're looking for someone who has:

You’ll be an experienced software engineer who enjoys remaining hands-on while providing technical direction and guidance to others.

You’ll bring:

• At least five years of commercial software engineering experience building SaaS products and contemporary web applications
• Advanced Java development skills, particularly with Spring Boot
• Strong front-end development experience using React and TypeScript
• Experience working with MySQL databases and designing RESTful web services
• A strong understanding of distributed systems, microservices and API design
• Experience with automated testing methodologies and a commitment to building quality into the development process
• Exposure to AWS, container orchestration, infrastructure as code, CI/CD and application monitoring
• Strong systems thinking and the ability to navigate complex or ambiguous technical challenges
• The confidence to lead technical discussions, assess risks and influence decisions
• A collaborative approach and the ability to mentor and support other engineers
