This is a rare opportunity to work within a mature engineering team led by a former Amazon Machine Learning specialist (6 years in Japan). The team includes alumni from SEEK, RedBubble, Envato, AWS, Zendesk, Culture Amp, REA, etc. The bar is high, and so is the impact. Base pay range

A$150,000.00/yr - A$180,000.00/yr

What You’ll Be Doing

Play a key role in a tight-knit engineering team (19), building systems for scale, speed, and resilience.
Building backend functionality and features with GoLang
Review systems for consistency, error handling, and engineering patterns that set the standard, not follow it.
Collaborate with product and design while maintaining high autonomy
Tech stack includes AWS Lambda, ECS (Fargate), API Gateway, Golang, Node.js, Python, and Terraform.

What You Bring

A backend or infrastructure-first mindset - you know how code works and how to optimise it in production.
Detail-oriented and methodical; you spot gaps, remove inefficiencies, and clean up messes.
Deep knowledge of backend architecture and cloud infrastructure.
An independent thinker who thrives outside the herd - proactive and comfortable owning outcomes.
Experience with distributed systems, event-driven architecture, and enterprise patterns.
You’ve thrived in small teams where delivery and quality go hand-in-hand - this isn\'t a role padded with busywork.
