Job summary

SG Fleet AU in Sydney is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and improve customer-focused software products through hands-on development and strong engineering practices. You will collaborate with Product, Design and Engineering, take ownership of complex problems from concept to production, mentor others, and contribute to architectural decisions while ensuring reliability and security.

Job Description

This position is responsible for designing, building, and continuously improving customer-focused software products through hands‑on development and strong engineering practice. Collaborating closely with Product, Design, and Engineering colleagues, the Senior Software Engineer delivers high‑quality, scalable, and maintainable solutions that create meaningful customer value, takes ownership of complex technical problems from concept through to production, contributes to architectural and technical decisions, and leads by example by mentoring others, improving development practices, and ensuring software is reliable, secure, and aligned with product goals.

Job Requirements

• Tertiary qualification in Information Technology or relevant equivalent including in software development
• Strong hands‑on experience designing and developing applications using .NET technologies, with a focus on building efficient, scalable, and maintainable solutions
• Demonstrated experience developing modern web applications using contemporary frontend technologies and frameworks
• Proficiency with Microsoft software development technologies and tools, including .NET, MVC, Web API, Entity Framework, SQL, and related platforms
• Experience working with TypeScript and at least one modern frontend framework such as Svelte, Vue.js, Angular, or React
• Solid experience with automated testing practices, including unit testing frameworks (e.g. Jest, Jasmine) and frontend/end‑to‑end testing tools (e.g. Cypress, Playwright)
• Experience implementing, using, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for both frontend and .NET‑based solutions
• Ability to work effectively across a mixed‑technology environment and contribute to integrations between systems
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to contribute to solution design and assess technical trade‑offs
• Strong database and data‑modelling skills, with experience designing, querying, and optimising relational databases
• Proven experience working within agile teams and applying agile software development practices
• Exposure to infrastructure design concepts e.g. virtualisation, cloud services, monitoring
• Knowledge of Agile process tools and associated CI/CD tools (eg. JIRA, Confluence, GIT etc)
• Knowledge of other Microsoft related tools & products (eg. Azure, Dynamics, Visio 365 etc)

Job Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain high‑quality, scalable software solutions using agreed technologies, delivering customer‑focused product features and enhancements
• Take end‑to‑end ownership of complex work, from requirements and solution design through delivery, release, and ongoing production support, ensuring minimal operational impact
• Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Designers, Business Analysts, and business stakeholders to understand requirements, contribute to solution design, and communicate progress, risks, and outcomes clearly
• Contribute to architectural and technical direction, ensuring solutions meet performance, reliability, service level, security, and data protection requirements.
• Lead by example in applying and evolving coding and engineering standards, delivering to quality expectations and performing peer code reviews
• Identify, assess, and proactively manage technical, operational, and security risks, implementing appropriate mitigation strategies
• Mentor and support other engineers through coaching, knowledge sharing, and feedback to uplift team capability and engineering maturity
