Job summary

Nuix Limited is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Sydney-based team. You will work with Engineering Managers, Principal Engineers, and Product to deliver high-quality Nuix Products, primarily building applications in Java with Spring and potentially React/TypeScript.

You will attend the Sydney office a minimum of 3 days per week and may work remotely or from the office for the remaining 2 days, in a hybrid model. Candidates with AI/NLP interest and cloud expertise are highly valued.

Qualifications

• Degree, or equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
• Typically 7+ years' software engineering experience delivering complex work end-to-end.
• Strong backend Java and Spring; React/TypeScript also valued for full-stack work.
• Python exposure and comfort with model-backed components is a plus.
• Experience with containerised, cloud and on-prem delivery (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS).
• Interest or experience in AI/LLM-backed features and NLP domains is desirable.
• Recognised as a subject-matter expert and a clear communicator in a distributed team.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end delivery of significant features and epics—design, build, test and ship.
• Improve non-functional requirements (security, performance, DevOps) and architecture alignment.
• Provide thoughtful code reviews, address security concerns, and promote secure-by-design.
• Set and refine code best practices; maintain QA gates and code quality.
• Participate in architecture discussions and drive collaboration across geographies.
• Mentor mid-level, associate and graduate engineers to grow the team.
• Contribute to AI agents and agentic capabilities in the platform.
