Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Developer to design, develop and deliver digital productivity solutions for MineStar in Redcliffe, Perth.

You will build scalable AWS-based applications using Python backend and React frontend, working with Product Owners, architects, UX specialists and other MineStar teams. This hands-on role focuses on solving complex problems, establishing technical direction and delivering reliable, maintainable software at scale, with onsite work and travel up

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Significant software development experience delivering production applications in complex enterprise environments.
• Strong backend development experience using Python, including APIs, services and business logic.
• Strong frontend development experience using React, JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Experience designing and developing cloud-based solutions using AWS.
• Experience with REST APIs, data services and distributed components.
• Strong understanding of software architecture and maintainable engineering practices.
• Experience with automated testing, source control, CI/CD and code reviews.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and maintain scalable digital applications and services using AWS, Python and React.
• Build robust backend services and APIs using Python.
• Develop responsive, intuitive user interfaces with React.
• Design cloud-native solutions using AWS and architectural patterns.
• Contribute to solution architecture and technical design decisions.
• Collaborate with Product Owners, architects, UX specialists and engineers to translate needs into solutions.
• Integrate applications with MineStar and enterprise systems.
• Apply engineering practices across code quality, security, performance and maintainability.
