Job summary

Talent in Sydney is seeking a Senior ServiceNow Engineer to act as a key technical authority for a large, global ServiceNow environment. You will combine platform depth with solution architecture, technical leadership and hands-on problem solving to shape how ServiceNow is designed, built and operated across the organisation.

You’ll be close to the technology, collaborating with engineers, product teams and stakeholders to deliver practical solutions, mentor engineers and drive the platform

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience with ITSM or related platforms.
• 5+ years hands-on ServiceNow experience.
• Experience in architecture or technical leadership for ServiceNow.
• Knowledge of integrations, APIs, security and monitoring.
• Experience working with large, distributed teams.
• Understanding of security, scalability and governance.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior technical leadership and architecture across the ServiceNow platform.
• Define platform architecture, technical standards, reusable patterns and engineering guardrails.
• Work directly with product and business teams to understand requirements and determine the best technical approach.
• Remain hands on, solving complex problems and supporting engineers when needed.
• Guide architecture across integrations, security, performance, CMDB, data models and platform design.
• Help shape the technical roadmap, including integrations and platform improvements.
• Act as an escalation point for complex ServiceNow issues and support root cause analysis.
• Mentor engineers and raise technical capability across a distributed global team.
• Provide technical leadership across complex initiatives from design through testing, release and handover.

This is an opportunity for a highly capable Senior ServiceNow Engineer who wants more than a traditional engineering role, without stepping away from the hands on work.
We're looking for a Senior ServiceNow Engineer to become a key technical authority for a large, global ServiceNow environment. You'll combine deep platform expertise with solution architecture, technical leadership and hands on problem solving, helping shape how ServiceNow is designed, built and operated across the organisation.
This isn't a role where you'll spend your days sitting on the sidelines producing architecture documents. You'll be close to the technology, working with engineers, product teams and stakeholders to solve problems, shape solutions and provide the technical direction behind the platform.

You'll act as a trusted technical escalation point, working across a global, distributed environment, you'll collaborate with product teams, engineers and senior stakeholders across multiple regions and time zones.
The position combines architecture with technical delivery and operational involvement, taking complex changes from design through build, testing, release and handover.
What you'll be doing:

• Provide senior technical leadership and architecture expertise across the ServiceNow platform
• Help define platform architecture, technical standards, reusable patterns and engineering guardrails
• Work directly with product and business teams to understand requirements and determine the best technical approach
• Remain hands on, jumping into complex problems, whiteboarding solutions and supporting engineers when needed
• Guide architecture across integrations, security, performance, CMDB, data models and platform design
• Help shape the technical roadmap, including integrations, platform improvements and technical debt
• Act as an escalation point for complex ServiceNow issues and support root cause analysis where required
• Review higher risk technical designs and ensure solutions remain scalable, supportable and upgrade safe
• Mentor engineers and help raise technical capability across a distributed global team
• Provide technical leadership across complex initiatives from design through testing, release and operational handover

The broader remit includes architecture reviews, integration patterns, platform governance, major incident support and technical leadership across complex initiatives.
About you:

• Around 8+ years of experience across enterprise ITSM, service operations or related platform environments
• 5+ years of strong, hands on ServiceNow experience
• Experience across ServiceNow architecture, solution design or technical leadership
• Strong knowledge of integrations, APIs, authentication, resiliency and monitoring
• Experience working with large, complex organisations and distributed technical teams
• An understanding of enterprise considerations including security, scalability, change management, compliance and platform governance
• ServiceNow certifications, with CSA required and additional architecture, development, integration or CIS credentials highly regarded
• A relevant degree or equivalent practical experience
