Job summary

Stake is seeking a Senior Security Engineer to join our Technology team in Sydney. You will blend software engineering with security judgement to shape secure software across Stake, leading high-impact initiatives and setting standards, tooling and practices for scalable security.

You will collaborate with Engineering, Infrastructure, Risk and Compliance to balance customer protection, speed and regulatory obligations.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading complex application security initiatives across multiple teams.
• Deep experience in application security and modern cloud-native architectures.
• Ability to shape technical direction and engineering standards without formal authority.
• Strong ability to mentor engineers and raise security capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve secure engineering practices across Stake's technology organisation.
• Lead complex application security initiatives spanning multiple engineering teams.
• Influence architecture and design decisions early to balance security with delivery.
• Build security tooling, automation and guardrails for proactive risk management.
• Raise the security capability of the engineering organisation through mentoring.
• Strengthen Stake's ability to detect, respond to and learn from security incidents.
• Partner with Engineering, Infrastructure, Risk and Compliance on pragmatic security decisions.
• Become a trusted technical leader shaping secure software engineering at scale.
